The Vatican Dominates Rome and Italy

Views of Rome

In May, along with my family and a group of friends, I went to Rome.  I took may camera with me and took a few

The Lovely Liguria Coastline

Lovely Liguria

While not as well known as some areas of Italy, namely Tuscany, the Liguria region of Italy is an absolute jewel. The Liguria area is

Foggy Milan

A Foggy Night in Milan – Photographs

Many years ago when I first came to Milan, winters were cold and foggy. Nowadays fog in the centre of Milan is quite rare, which is why when I say it was good and foggy the other evening I whipped out to attempt to capture the atmosphere, and to try out a fast 50mm f1.4 lens.

Here, then, are a few black and white photographs of Milan in the fog. Why black and white? First, I like black and white, and second, black and white captures the mood of foggy nights better, or so I think.

There is also an image of the, er, Christmas butterflies in via Paolo Sarpi. Well, they look like butterflies to me, but I think they are supposed to be angels.

Photogenic Italy – A Tuscan Doorway

Here’s a photograph I took from my summer trip to Tuscany to help brighten up those winter blues a little. It’s not the photograph displayed next to this entry if you have come to the home page of BlogfromItaly.com, just in case you were wondering.

Hope you like it. For the technically minded, it was shot in RAW and then processing into .jpg via the interesting DxO Optics Pro 6 RAW processing program.

I’m quite happy with the end result.

The Seaside Pleasures of Nervi, Near Genoa, Italy

Not far from the northern Italian coastal city of Genoa, lies the scenic seaside suburb of Nervi. As Genoa lover Di Mackey, and a few others know, sleepy little Nervi has its attractions. My other half is from Genoa, and first took me to Nervi long ago. I liked it, and you might too.

Big Bugs Cast Shadows Over Italy

There are some mighty big bugs in Italy. Some of the wasps I’ve seen are huge, and scary. Luckily, for those of you who are like me, not the world’s greatest bug fans, these miniature giants of the Italian bug world are not often to be spotted.

Orange Cagli in Le Marche, Italy

Italy is a curious mix of dark and light, of good, bad and ugly. Cagli, a small town in the Le Marche region of Italy, looks good and light. Here is a photograph of one of Cagli’s buildings.
