Luxury in Venice

If there is one special place that is worth devoting a little time to, it is Venice.  This glorious city is a must-see if you have never been there before.

Such a special place would be ideal for a long weekend break, and is easily reachable from most parts of Europe, although those from further afield who are coming to Italy would be missing out if they did not make a trip to this facinating place.

Venice is the ideal place to visit if you want to show how much you appreciate that special person in your life.  Who knows how many marriage proposals have been made in Cassanova’s city?  Or how many honeymoons, both first and second, not to mention countless wedding aniversaries, and birthdays, have been celebrated in this most romantic of romantic locations.

The number must be vast, but no surprise, and once you have been to Venice, you may well find the pleasant memories it will leave will also lead to a definite urge to return.  I’ve only been twice, but I would love to go back.  I think Venice is my favourite city in Italy, as I have written elsewhere on this blog.

For those with Venice on the mind, either for a weekend break, or as part of a longer vacation, and who are thinking of splashing out at little, here is an idea for a hotel.

Ca’ Nigra Lagoon Resort

This enchanting looking luxury boutique hotel is right slap bang on Venice’s Grand Canal, and is a very short walk away from Venice’s railway station, making it very convenient for those arriving by train.

There are three categories of room:

Classic Rooms
Deluxe Junior Suites
Superior Rooms

While the Classic and Junior suites look appealing, for that extra special touch for that extra special occaison, there is only one way to go – the Superior Rooms.  In particular there is a stunning looking room featured in the photographs on the Rooms section of the Ca’ Nigra Lagoon Resort website.  Glorious circular glass panes, and a view along Venice’s spectacular Grand Canal.  What more could any Venice visitor want?

Stop reading, start speaking

Stop translating in your head and start speaking Italian for real with the only audio course that prompt you to speak.

These are some features of the rooms, all of which are finished to a high standard.

· Soundproofing
· Adjustable air conditioning
· Mini bar
· Direct dial phone even in the bathroom
· Satellite TV
· LCD and Hi-Fi Stereo
· ADSL connection / WiFi (but you are not going to bring your computer, now are you?!)
· Hydro-massage and chromo therapy
· Hairdryer
· Courtesy kit and bathrobe
· Magnifying mirror

Possibly the most attractive feature of this very well appointed hotel is that it boasts a glorious garden which flanks Venice’s most famous canal.  A wonderful place to relax with an aperatif after a day of soaking up Venice’s sights and sounds.  Indeed, this is one of the few places in Venice which has a garden, which is yet another reason for making a booking, I would say.  This is also why the Ca’ Nigra caught my little eye.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4For those thinking of tying the knot, this mini-paradise, in the midst of one of the most memorable cities in the world, is also available for weddings, and other functions.  I suspect, though, that this stunning location may well be booked up for some time to come.  Still, no harm in checking, especially if you are thinking ahead.  Just remember to book a world class photographer to record that special occasion.

Special Extra Touches

How about a gondala serenade and dinner?  If this grabs your fancy, then more details can be found here:

Even better though, is this Three Islands Boat guided boat tour, which takes in Murano, Burano and Torcello.

Big Bugs Cast Shadows Over Italy

There are some mighty big bugs in Italy. Some of the wasps I’ve seen are huge, and scary. Luckily, for those of you who are like me, not the world’s greatest bug fans, these miniature giants of the Italian bug world are not often to be spotted.
