Genova by night

May 4, 2007 by Alex Roe

This is a shot I took from a friend’s appartment down in Genova at 11 at night. For the technically minded: F5.0, 20 sec. exposure and ISO 200. Canon eos 400d, Tamron 28-75 F2.8 lens. Converted from RAW, with no tinkering, although the blown areas could be dealt with, but what the heck, I like the result:

Genova Street by night

I do.

Thanks Di:) A complement from you is always great to get.

In fact, a friend of mine who runs a printing company down in Genova, has offered to turn the photo into a postcard. I might take him up on the offer…

Stunning. I opened this and gasped 🙂

    That’s a good point….they don’t call a caffè macchiato a “cappuccino genovese” for nothing!! 😉

Alsoit – did this picture really make you go wow? If so, wow!!

Fast Eddie – thanks for the compliment and the suggestion – I might well follow that up, even though, as you may know, getting money from the Genovese is much more difficult than extracting blood from stones…

    Great photo.

I like Genoa, for its no-nonsense port city grittiness (and its focaccia!), but I must say your photo makes it look lovely, clean and tidy. You ought to try to flog this photo to the Genoan tourist board (if such a body exists)!
