Italian Rogue of the Week – Mauro Floriani

Alessandra Mussolini

Mauro Floriani, the husband of Alessandra Mussolini, has admitted to multiple encounters with schoolgirl prostitutes in Rome.

Alessandra Mussolini is an extreme right ring Italian politician and grandchild of infamous Italian dictator Benito Mussolini,

Ms Mussolini’s husband Floriani is the father of three children, Caterina, Clarissa, and Romano, yet this did not put him off seeking the illicit pleasures of under-age prostitutes.

Alessandra Mussolini has called for the chemical castration of paedophiles. Will she now require this of her husband?

Ms Mussolini happens to be known in Italy as an advocate of children’s rights. From 2008 al 2013 she headed a parliamentary commission dealing with issues relating to childhood and adolescence.  Ms Mussolini is an ardent fan of a certain Silvio Berlusconi who has also allegedly been engaging the sexual services of under-age girls. Mussolini is now a member of Berlusconi’s Forza Italia political party.

So, we have children’s rights evangelist wife Ms Mussolini in the same political party as a man accused of using the services of the prostitution of minors and her husband who’s now accused of exactly the same thing. Can one be an advocate of children’s rights and associate oneself with someone accused of violating them? In Italy, apparently, you can.

While Berlusconi has never admitting his wrongdoing, at least Floriani has.

Floriani has attempted to justify his actions by claiming the schoolgirl prostitutes did not look under-age to him. Other potential clients had left after understanding the girls were most probably much younger than they claimed.

For exploiting and therefore encouraging the prostitution of minors in Italy, Mauro Floriani qualifies as an Italian rogue, if not something worse. Let’s hope he ends up in prison for a very long time.

Low salaries, unclear career paths, and a distinct lack of meritocracy are aspects of Italy’s job market which have caused many young Italians to look for jobs outside of Italy. Italian brain power, which is not to be underestimated, is moving away, and may never return.
