Finally, after a longer than expected wait, Italy’s Supreme Court of Cassation found Silvio Berlusconi … reached it’s verdict in the final appeal hearing of the Mediaset tax fraud case in which Italy’s ex-prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has been found guilty by two lower courts of being instrumental in engineering a system designed to hide income from Italy’s taxman.

The verdict has been much awaited, even if everyone had become just a little bit bored with Italy’s news once again being dominated by the antics of Silvio Berlusconi.

It looks as if Berlusconi’s legal team managed to convince the judges hearing the final appeal of Berlusconi’s innocence.

It looks as if Berlusconi’s legal team did not manage to convince the judges hearing the final appeal of Berlusconi’s innocence.

The judges hearing the case have ordered a retrial and this means a definitive verdict is unlikely to ever be reached because time barring legislation will probably cut in and effectively extinguish the case.
