Zelig, Milan – Comedy Show in English TONIGHT

Whilst flicking through the pages of the Metro free newspaper on the way to work this morning, I noticed that Zelig a well know Italian cabaret venue, located at Viale Monza, 140, Milan (click on the address to go to the Platial Map), has ‘Culture Shock’, a comedy set written by English comic John Peter Sloan this evening at 9:30. The show will poke fun at the cultural differences between Italians and the English and so should be worth a look. Apparently around 75% of the show will be in English.

Stop reading, start speaking

Stop translating in your head and start speaking Italian for real with the only audio course that prompt you to speak.

Alas, I won’t be there, which is a shame. Perhaps someone who reads this and does go along can say how it was.

Interview: Guardian & Economist Journalist John Hooper

I’ve been reading Guardian and Economist journalist and Rome correspondent John Hooper’s articles on events in Italy for some time, then I found John Hooper tweeting on Twitter.

One day, John Hooper actually started following my newsfromitaly persona on Twitter, which meant I could send him a private message. Not that I thought he would agree, but ever hopeful, I fired off a private Tweet to ask him if he’d like to do an interview, albiet via email, for BlogfromItaly.com. Much to my delight (and surprise), he kindly agreed.

Here is the result, and I hope you like the questions I posed to John Hooper, and I suspect you’ll find his responses interesting – I certainly did.

Photogenic Italy – A Tuscan Doorway

Here’s a photograph I took from my summer trip to Tuscany to help brighten up those winter blues a little. It’s not the photograph displayed next to this entry if you have come to the home page of BlogfromItaly.com, just in case you were wondering.

Hope you like it. For the technically minded, it was shot in RAW and then processing into .jpg via the interesting DxO Optics Pro 6 RAW processing program.

I’m quite happy with the end result.

Tax Evasion in Italy

If you want to minimise or extinguish your tax liability, engage an Italian tax advisor. Italy’s income tax advisors must be some of the best in the world and Italy’s tax advisors are real ‘value for money’ professionals too.

It’s a Teca Thing

Nope, ‘teca’ has got nothing to do with technology, in case you were wondering. ‘teca’ is a suffix using in Italian to denote a place which specializes in something or other.
