Intense heat in Milan

The heat here is intense.  It is boiling hot and the sun is unrelenting as it lasers down from a cloudless sky, indeed any clouds that have the temerity to attempt to form in the sky above are quickly and unceremoniously disintegrated by the suns scalding rays.  It’s almost as if the sun is saying ‘I rule, OK?’, such is its power here during July and August.  And do you know what?  It does.

Stop reading, start speaking

Stop translating in your head and start speaking Italian for real with the only audio course that prompt you to speak.

These are months during which Italians avoid venturing outdoors between 10am and 5pm, unless absolutely necessary, or they are heading off to sunbathe and cool themselves down in the local open air pools.  Even wandering out in the relative cool of the evenings can be traumatic.  The mozzies are having a field day, as is normal at this time of year, and the slightly offensive aroma of mozzy repellent has taken over from the heady aromas of Dior and Versace’s exotic perfumes.

Yes, summer is well and truly here in Milan.
