Fantasia Pura Italiana – Italian Funk Rock with Added Flute

April 8, 2014 by Alex Roe

Fantasia Pura Italiana are an Italian rock funk ska group with a dash of jazz, plus a few added hints of rap which has all been wrapped up into quite an original sound. Oh, I forgot, there’s a flute tooting in there too.

Founded by high school friends vocalist Fabrizio Ganugi and guitarist Ivan Crisci in Prato in 2009, the band moved to Rome in 2010 in search of greater visibility, and lunch.

The band has a busy tour schedule up until May this year as part of its #GNAMOTOUR 2014 gigs, so the Rome move seems to have paid off.

Today aside from the founding members there’s also Claudio BEC-LAINA Brambilla – on bass, Alessio Tanzini on drums, Tiziano BOLLORE Nieri on keyboards and musical dogs body Francesco Gori who does recitations, chorus work and more (flute maybe?) besides according to Fantasia Pura Italiana’s Facebook profile.

Here’s Fantasia Pura Italiana at lunch:

For Italian music, Fantasia Pura Italiana’s sound is rather original and makes a refreshing change from the legions of poetical singer-songwriters which Italy’s tends to produce.

Have a listen to a couple of their tracks and see what you think.

First up, there’s:

L’ eSGAMOtage

Next, there’s the funky:

If you liked those tracks, then you can hear more of Fantasia Pura Italiana on Soundcloud

To catch the band live, check out the band’s Informazioni page on Facebook.

If you are roaming Rome, you may catch the band at lunch – probably chewing over what to do next.
