Catania – The Movie is Looking for Backers

Catania! – The Movie is a romantic comedy film project and some scenes for the film will be shot in and around Catania in lovely Sicily during the summer of 2012 – if a $7,500 funding target is met.

Hollywood types liked the Catania! script, but despite the low level of funding required, didn’t want to take the plunge financially according to scriptwriter and filmmaker Doug Bremner.

One comment the Hollywood people made was that independent producers would love the movie, so Doug Bremner, who is also a Professor of Psychiatry and Radiology at Emory University School of Medicine and Atlanta VA Medical Center decided to go it alone along with his daughter Sabina.

Preparations are coming along, actors are being sought, but more cash is required to really get the project off the ground.

I Pledged

Because I like the idea and that the movie will help promote Sicily, I decided to take a mini plunge and pledge some money towards the making of Catania.  But the project is still short of its funding target.

There is still a little time left to help Doug hit that target so the movie gets made.

Go to the Kickstarter page for Catania! The Movie to find how you can help fund this film.  32 43 people, including me, have pledged.

You can pledge as little as $20 or as much as $2,000.  Pledge $200, for example and get a credit in the movie.  Pledge more and receive more visibility.

If you don’t like the idea of pledging through Kickstarter, maybe you do not have a credit card, you can email Doug Bremner with your pledge: jamesdouglasbremner at yahoo dot com  Write in Italian or English.

Go pledge now!  The show must go on.

Federalism, Berlusconi, Dictatorship, and Ruby

Berlusconi’s staying power is immense, as is his control over his faithful in Italy’s parliament.
