Enrico Mentana, an Italian newscaster, tweeted that Silvio Berlusconi’s PdL party is about to explode with certain senior members defecting and supporting Mario Monti.
The political blast has not happened yet, but is apparently imminent. Except it was not that imminent! No explosion today. Maybe tomorrow.
Interestingly, Berlusconi has announced today that if Mario Monti says he’ll lead a party of moderates, he, Silvio Berlusconi, will withdraw from his attempt to be re-elected as prime minister.
