Barack Obama’s Win

Barak Obama
Barack Obama

I didn’t think I would live to see the day that the United States of America would vote an Africa-American president into power.

Luckily, I have seen that day.  Words cannot express how happy I feel.

Obama’s win not only provides the USA with hope, it is also a significant victory for the voice of common sense on a worldwide scale.  He has planted the seeds of hope, not only for Americans, but for everyone in this world.

I know many of my American friends will be literally jumping for joy on this historic day.

Stop reading, start speaking

Stop translating in your head and start speaking Italian for real with the only audio course that prompt you to speak.

All Obama needs to do now is to transform his fine words into fine actions.  The job is not going to be easy, but it sounds as though he is up to it.  Heck I hope so.

Go for it Obama – you have the voice of reason behind you.

A ray of hope shines on the world this day.

Expensive Milan

My post on the sky high bill which a couple of Japanese tourists received after dining at Rome’s Il Passetto restaurant has attracted some attention. The Italian press has also been hunting for other similar stories too, and has found a couple of other supposedly extreme bills.

Watch it!

Be careful around Milan’s central station at the moment, particularly the area shown in the photo. There is

Will Fiat Leave Italy?

Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne is arguing with the iconic Italian car manufacturers unions at the moment. Marchionne wants Fiat Italy to become more efficient and more productive. The unions think Fiat wants to deprive them of workers rights.

If Marchionne does not get his way, he’s hinting that Fiat might move to another country. Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi while speaking at an Italian-German summit yesterday commented that if Fiat decided to leave Italy, then so be it.

I was contacted recently by Rebecca Harp of the Jerusalem Studio School in connection with the launch of its summer art program in Tuscany, Italy. I recently wrote about my visit to the lovely village of Lillaz in the Italian Alps last weekend. Well, down the road from Lillaz is Cogne – which has, apparently, been discovered by Russians.
