If, like me, you would like to know a little more about the technical aspects of editing digital photographs, you may find the exhaustive articles to be found on this site: Ron Bigelow Photography quite interesting. Be warned though, that this guy goes into more detail than most of us will ever need, however, if you are thinking about going pro, then the info on this site may prove extremely useful.

I came across the site while looking for a bit more info about sharpening techniques and more precisely USM techniques, which I sort of knew about but was unable to exploit fully – I’m still learning, but at least now I understand more. The other articles, such as those regarding noise, are also worth a look (although, between you and me, I’ve yet to obtain the same results with USM as I can get just by applying ‘standard’ sharpening filters – I’ve got a lot to learn). Indeed, just about all the articles are worth reading and will help you get get the most out of digital cameras, especially if you are wrestling with a DSLR.
Personally, I’m more interested in trying to capture what the eye can see, or at least getting a fresh perspective on what can be seen. I’m not that interested in heavy post-processing because I tend to think that it can give images too much of an artificial look. But this is just me, and I have to admit that those who are good at photo editing can come up with stunning images.
