Sorry. You could try the Hotel Ondezana - it's just round the corner from the apartment and the people who run it are very nice. Here's the hotel's website, if you'd like to take a look: http://www.hotelondezana.it/Site/enBest,Alex

Hi Charlie,

I’m afraid I can’t give you contact details for the apartment – it’s still being rented by a couple of friends of mine. If so, could you pass me the contact details please? Look for the Kompass brand - these maps cover the whole of Italy. The scale is 1:50000 and 1:30000 . 1:30000 is better, if you can find one. They cost around €7:50 in Italy. The Italian Touring Club do some trekking maps too.Failing that, try Hotel Ondezan in Lillaz (not a bad place to stay either), they certainly had maps of the area when I was there earlier this year. They also hire snow shoes - 'racchette' - too. Great for walking in deep snow! In February the snow will still be good and deep.I did not use a map because I went with people who know the area well.It is a good idea to mention where you are thinking of going before you set out - sometimes paths are unofficially closed due to the risk of avalanches. If you need any more info, give me a shout.Best,Alex

Hi Karen,

Yes, it is a lovely area, I also have some great memories of the area.

Great to hear that you had such a wonderful time that you are going back again!

As for maps of the area, you should be able to find them in the hotels and shops in Cogne. My husband and I and a couple of friends stayed in Cogne in Feb 07 to walk and enjoy the snow (we don't ski) and had such a wonderful time, we've just booked to go again next Feb. I'm trying to be a bit more organised by sourcing a map or guide of walks in the area but to no avail. Did you have a map for your walk? Certainly sounds like we may give snow shoes a go, presumably they would be available for hire in Cogne too?Karen

Hi I’ve just found your blog while searching for walks in Cogne and its brought back some fab memories.
