Florence used to be my favorite Italian city, but ages ago I decided it is too much trouble except when absolutely necessary. It's perhaps mostly because of too many tourists in one small place, but it's also partly what happens to Italians who are too pressed for everything. Beautiful? Absolutely! Difficult? That too.
