Hi Joe and Cristian,

Thanks to both of you – now I know the origin of ‘teca’ – thanks to Cristian.

And thanks to you Joe for pointing out an English/French word with the same roots – discotheque. Which in Italian is another ‘teca’ – discoteca – and it is still widely used here in Italy, whereas in the UK ‘disco’ is very 70s.

Yes, teca comes from the greek “thèke”, storeroom or closet.

Hi Alex!

I think this Italian suffix “teca” comes from the same Greek root that also shows up in French as “theque”. For instance, like in “discotheque”.
