Italy’s Ever Right, Right and Its Sorry Left

Now, you might think, logically, that the difference between left and right wing politicians in Italy has something to do with ideologies, but it doesn’t.

Instead, it’s got to do with how they react when they are caught doing something they should not.

In Italy, you see, politicians on both sides of Italy’s often blurred political spectrum are, often, caught with their hands in public tills. It is when they are collared by cops that the difference between left and right immediately becomes evident.

Wasn’t Me, Right?

When caught pinching pennies for personal projects, Italy’s right wing politicians invariably deny any wrongdoing and never apologize for the errors of their thieving ways.

The Sorry Left

On the other hand, even if they do the same as their dishonorable right-wing leaning counterparts, when Italy’s left wingers are caught pilfering the public purse, they come clean and, generally, say sorry.

Curious, isn’t it?

Is the political left in Italy, marginally, more honest than the political right? What do you think?

By the way, Italy’s politicians have a habit from bouncing from left to right, and back again, and often more often than once.

Foggy Milan

A Foggy Night in Milan – Photographs

Many years ago when I first came to Milan, winters were cold and foggy. Nowadays fog in the centre of Milan is quite rare, which is why when I say it was good and foggy the other evening I whipped out to attempt to capture the atmosphere, and to try out a fast 50mm f1.4 lens.

Here, then, are a few black and white photographs of Milan in the fog. Why black and white? First, I like black and white, and second, black and white captures the mood of foggy nights better, or so I think.

There is also an image of the, er, Christmas butterflies in via Paolo Sarpi. Well, they look like butterflies to me, but I think they are supposed to be angels.
